August 21st was the date for Branson's first annual sprint triathlon called the Mountain Man (due to our hilly terrain). I had the opportunity of helping to create and conduct this sprint triathlon along side the Branson Park and Recreation staff. Orginally, I encouraged the Park and Rec. division to hold this triathlon so that I could compete in a sprint triathlon close to home. However, I became so involved with creating and conducting it that I was unable to compete in it first year. There is always next year, and I look forward to competing then. We had about 100 racer by race start saturday morning. This sprint triathlon consisted of a 450 yard pool swim, 20 mile bike on the "high road" and a 5k run. The fastest time was about 1 hour 33 minutes. Because of our Ozark Mountain terrain and a longer than usual bike course, finishing times were longer than your average sprint triathlon. However, these difference have set our race apart as a unique and exciting option within the fitness community. I fully expect it to grow more each year. |

We are officially 2 weeks into the "Howbadyawanit" Weight Loss Challenge. I happy to report that everything is going very well. I had a very positive response from everyone. The evening class is the most popular and is completely full. However, should someone desire, I can fit more challengers into the morining class. In creating this challenge, I had hoped to benefit everyone involved, and that seems to be happening. I am extremely grateful for all the local business that chose to be involved in the “Howbadyawanit” Weight Loss Challenge by providing services, merchandise, or cash prizes to be awarded through-out this challenge. Their contact information is found on my “links” page. Please look them up, to see how they can help improve your health, as well as the health of your loved ones.
For those who missed the opportunity to participate in this challenge, I have other exercise classes available. I have Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9am and Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 6:45pm. These classes are 30 minutes in duration and are only $4/class. Payment may be cash or check paid up front or before each class. Choose the "Wright" fitness program for you by joining the "Howbadyawanit" Fitness Club. I hope to see you there!
